A BIRD LIKE YOU COULD SET THE WHOLE WORLD ON FIRE

i am scaling a cliff side,
my stomach full of drop
and salt
like cold barren fields below.

there's a sparrow on the guard rail

and a fire
burning burning
in the sweet hay of a barn floor.

spark in the throaty warmth
of her voice, young flames.

open your mouth
in a slow and easing timbre
of smoke.
