ANGRY SUN

I cannot abide
this lifestyle
of noontime
arousals,
contradicting
myself with
Lillian Hellman
volumes
for pillows
and slothful
bits of taco
flavored
tortilla chips
trapped in my
beard with the
glue of cola,
the day’s sun
angrily staring
at me through
the garbage bag
curtains, waiting
for me to melt
like a deferred
toy soldier.

THRIFT SHOP GLOBE TROTTING

Infinite cities in between
used laundered clothes
a fugitive from my mother
colliding into other
miniature road warriors
of many
backgrounds and
nationalities
in the depths of the
hanging racks
fighting over
territories in
between skid-marked
underpants and
flowered dresses
I was deported
at the border of
Men's Summer Wear
and stacks of
twenty-five
cent paperback
continents, the
scattered sea of
doorknobs and
mutilated baby
dolls drowning me
in discarded
reality.
