TWO PIECES BY STEPHEN CARATZAS

THE ASKING PRICE

The wind is crueler
In these climes
Than in most other
Places

A hand over your
Heart
Tells me everything
About the weather

Hearing the floorboards
Creak
Is a sign of life
And of loss

When I have courage
I more easily see
The possibilities in
Love

LIKE YOU’LL NEVER LET ME GO

After all these years
Finally hearing
John Denver’s version of
Leaving on a Jet Plane
Made me cry
And there’s really nothing
To be done about it.
