LIFE AT THAT DARKEST OF AGES

are we unified in all of our telling
or letting what little fun we're still having die

are you seeing these restless leaves
rid of desire in the erstwhile trees

have you come to terms with our mock child
or unveiled another of its post-modern facsimiles

as you read this are you picturing
our epic, dear, or saving it to a file

are you going to will me your secrets
or try scratching them onto our crest yet again
