AN INTERIM

No more shared strums for a while
or creeping up the gasoline path.

Passing through your manifest, we run
the exposure
of the particular still life not
so still.

May your indifference
be called
karuna: you have the heart
of a slaughtered deer.

The cultural moment has cabined
a shy land into the kindle again,

its tempo a new
vested grunge.
